Roxbury High School’s Friendsgiving is an annual feast that has been hosted by the Best Buddy program for the past 3 years.

Friendsgiving is an incredible celebration full of food and laughter. This gathering joins Buddies and their Ambassadors together to celebrate friendship and enjoy some special culinary delights. According to Ms. McGinley, Co- Club Advisor, “Friendsgiving is a great way to include everyone in our program and a great way to kick off the Thanksgiving break. It’s really just a great opportunity for our friends and buddies to socialize during a great time of year.”

Friendsgiving is one of the most successful events that Best Buddies runs, it is a one of a kind club offered by Roxbury. According to the Best Buddy’s website, the goal is to establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Best Buddies club flows with positivity and kindness and the club’s sense of community and friendship is only increased by the gathering of Friendsgiving. Aside from its obvious reasons for success, the rumor is that this event’s success is partially due to the one of a kind turkey prepared by Co-Advisor Mrs. Hancock.
