Our January 27th Teacher of the Week is Mr. Soergel!
Here’s a little information about Mr. Soergel:
Mr. Soergel is native of Oklahoma City and came to the Northeast to attend New York University. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and German. He then went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned a Master’s degree in Immunology and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Since his wife is from New Jersey, he moved here so she could be close to her family. He started teaching Anatomy at County College of Morris in the evenings while he working full-time in a Veterinary Practice. Here, he fell in love with teaching. It just so happened that a teaching opportunity opened up at Roxbury High School in 2004, and he has been here since. Mr. Soergel says that he has had “nothing but an exceptional experience working here at Roxbury. The kids are great, and I feel privileged to work with the best teaching colleagues the State of NJ has to offer.”
In addition to this, Mr. Soergel is a PADI-certified SCUBA diver and an avid Yankees fan. Now that his children are grown up, he is looking forward to traveling with his wife, getting back into SCUBA diving, and traveling the country going to see the Yankees play at every baseball stadium in the country (and Toronto). Hopefully, he will be able to get in some time fishing as well.
Congratulations to Mr. Soergel, our January 27th Teacher of the Week!

- Congratulations to Cara Van Norman! She will be continuing her academic career at Rowan University, majoring in Nursing. Go Owls!
