And then there were 8. What a wild card weekend, so many close games, and so many back-and-forth games as we are getting closer to the Super Bowl. Let’s get into all the action from this past weekend.
Rams and Bears Win in a Wild One
The Rams got a crazy win over the Panthers, with a final score of 34-31. The Rams were heavy favorites going into this game. However, they were not the Rams that we are used to seeing, at least on the defensive side, as Matt Stattford continues to make his case for MVP! The Bears were down 21-3 going into the half and rallied back, winning 31-27 against their division foes. Defense still has some question marks, and so does the offense, but it got the job done at the end of the day.
Bills, 49ers, and Patriots Move On
The Bills were shaky in the first half, as Josh Allen was taking some serious hits, but he managed to stay in the game and help the Bills win 27-24. The 49ers stunned the defending champs as the underdog heading into this one but, with so many injuries, they somehow found a way to pull off the upset in a 23-19 win. The Pats won their first playoff game in 6 years! It wasn’t the prettiest day on offense for the Patriots, but on defense, it was a feast! As Justin Herbert and the great Chargers offense could not figure out what New England was throwing at them, so the Pats now move on to the divisional round for the first time in 6 years.
Texans Dominate the Steelers
That Houston defense is scary! As it was all Texans in the 2nd half as the Steelers lost in the first round yet again, making their playoff win drought 7 years straight. Was this the last time we’ll see Aaron Rodgers on the field? The Texans will move on and face the Patriots on the road in what should be a very good game.
