Fundraisers:  

• Rox-THON’s annual Beanbury fundraiser is back! Order a drink from Beanbury’s menu (attached) for $5, and your drink will be delivered to your homeroom on Friday (12/12), B day.  Orders must be submitted by Wed (12/10) and paid by Thurs (12/11) at 3pm for your order to be placed.  You can pay $5 cash to Mr. Gottfried (L208) or online.
• Sweeten the season and spread some holiday cheer! Candy cane grams will be sold December 16th through December 19th before school in the Main Lobby and during all lunch blocks. Candy canes will be sold for $1.50 or $2.00 to include a message to a special someone. All proceeds support the freshman class! Don’t miss out – grab yours before they’re all gone! Happy holidays!

• Environmental Club: Meetings are on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month in G161. They present on current environmental topics, work in the front garden, host guest speakers, create bulletin boards, make environmentally friendly crafts, and host open discussions. • Model UN: Meets every other Wednesday in N224. Their first competition will be at Seton Hall University on February 7th and 8th! Google Classroom Code: t2de6sf.
• Roxbury HOSA: HOSA is an international student organization to promote career opportunities in the health care industry to help train future leaders and improve health care worldwide. Members study specific healthcare-related subjects before attending regional, and even state or national competitions, possibly even making it to the International Leadership Conference, where their medical knowledge is tested on an International scale. Our club is great for those interested in medicine and STEM, and is also a great club to put on college transcripts! Google Classroom Code: Jhgq72g.
• JSA: The Mission of JSA is to strengthen American democracy by educating and preparing high school students for lifelong involvement and responsible leadership in a democratic society. They are a nonpartisan, student-led organization with the mission of fostering civic engagement among high schoolers through regular debates, local events, information about current events, and activism and volunteering opportunities. They provide students with a platform to voice their opinions and engage in meaningful discussions. Through our activities, they hope that students will develop their own unique and informed worldviews and create change.

Teacher of the Week: Mrs. Schmidt

Our 12/8 Teacher of the Week is Mrs. Schmidt!

“I have been teaching in Roxbury for 17 years, but am moving on to a new position at the end of the month. I completed my undergrad at Monmouth University, where I also ran D1 track and was a pole vaulter on the track and field team (also a fun fact!) Then I completed my Master’s degree at Centenary University during my first few years. Teaching. While at Roxbury, I was the head girls’ Track and Field and Cross Country coach for 10 years and also advised the Literary Magazine, the Nightingale. I am honored to have taught and coached so many amazing students and athletes during my time here. Each person teaches you something new every day. I am also so grateful for my time co-teaching freshmen with Mrs. Foster. In my “free time,” you can usually find me on a field, ice-rink, court, or track supporting or coaching my own kids now, and I also own a small business called The Trail Mix! And, of course, I love to read!”
