Roxbury Volleyball is gearing up for their comeback season. With 9 returning players, and a previous record of 15-9, the girls are ready to bring the heat. Head Coach Alison Correnti-Roumes plans on leading the team to victory this season. The team consists of 9 seniors, 6 juniors, Captain Bella Gil, and Court Captain Jenna Heiser. Watch out for Roxbury Volleyball this season, because this team is not coming to play.
Last Season
Last Season Roxbury volleyball had a final record of 15-9, with Coach Correnti-Roumes’s first official season as head varsity coach. After impressive wins against Parsippany Hills, Tenafly, West Morris, and Kearny, RoxVball came back bigger and better. And don’t think that is it, Roxbury Volleyball has so much coming for them this season, so keep an eye out, your ears open, and show out to their games to watch the team make this a season to remember.
The team graduated 6 seniors. A huge loss was Tayla O’Connor, captain and 6 rotation outside hitter. She ended her season with a varsity career total of 600 digs, 400 kills, and 100 aces. Aside from O’Connor, last season we had to say goodbye to Ella Izzi (Opposite Hitter/Middle Blocker), Danielle McGowan (Defensive Specialist), Krystal Cole (Defensive Specialist/Setter), Guliana Fernandez (Setter), and Jinelle Hireman (Outside HItter).
So Far Seen this Season
So far Roxbury Volleyball is 2-2. Starting the season, the girls kicked off their season with a strong win against Bridgewater-Raritan. Following that game, a close match with West-Morris Central leveled out their record to 1-1. That same week, the team fought hard and pushed through the earn themselves another W in the books against Jefferson Township. Earlier this week, RoxVball took on Morristown, in a strenuous 3-set match. Although the outcome wasn’t ideal, the team is proud of their performance and plans on working and playing harder.
Players to Look Out For
Keep a lookout for some firecrackers this season. Bella Gil, Sarah Biczak, and Bianca Jackson are on fire this season. Sarah Biczak, Roxbury Athletics Player of the Week, 2023 #1 Blocker in the State, and a title of 2023 County Honorable Mention, Sarah Bicsak is a force to be reckoned with on the court. Outside Hitter, Middle Blocker, Opposite Hitter, Bianca Jackson does it all. Bianca came in guns a-blazing for her senior year, with 31 kills, 11 aces, and 9 digs, within 3 games Bianca has already racked up the stats! Roxbury Volleyball’s starting libero and captain, Bella Gil, is small but mighty. With 36 digs, Bella is already leaving her mark on the court only a week into her senior season. Watch out, these girls are ready to conquer the court.
