Former President Donald Trump and Incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris battled it out on the debate stage in Philadelphia. On October 1st, 2024, the Vice Presidential Candidates, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance (R) and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) took to the stage and debated one another before the country for the 2024 Presidential Election Season. This Vice Presidential Debate was the first and only VP debate of the 2024 election season.
After the candidates compromised on what day they would debate one, the two vice presidential candidates agreed that it would occur on October 1, 2024, at 9:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. CBS News announced that the two candidates agreed with one another to debate one another in New York City.
The moderators of the debate were the “CBS Evening News” anchor and managing editor Norah O’Donnell and “Face The Nation” moderator and CBS News foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan. The Debate was in the CBS Broadcasting Center in NYC and was available to watch on all CBS platforms and Paramount+. CBS had also announced that it was available on simulcast.
The Vice Presidential Debate was a surprisingly cordial and respectful, yet heated debate. J.D. Vance and Tim Walz were finally able to introduce themselves to the citizens of the United States. Many had found the Vice Presidential candidates to be unfavorable or ‘weird’, however, the VP debate served as a booster for both candidates.
It needs to be noted that this debate was incredibly civil, with the two Vice Presidential Candidates being very respectful to one another.
The 2024 Presidential Election season has been an incredibly heated and competitive one, and the Vice Presidential Debate will provide a glimpse of who these two men are and how they would be as the 50th Vice President of the United States.
