NEWS & EVENTS 

• Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6 – May 10): Teacher Appreciation Week is this week! Make sure to tell/show your teachers and staff how much you appreciate everything they do for us. Look out for teacher shoutouts on The Roxbury Review’s TikTok account!

• Color Fun Run (Saturday, May 19th): This year’s annual color fun run, hosted by Interact Club, will be held at Horseshoe Lake at 10:30. Show up in support of your fellow classmates!     

• National Art Honor Society & Art Show (Thursday, May 16th): Roxbury students have the opportunity to showcase their art work for all to see. The show will take place Thursday May 16, at 7pm in the RHS Cafeteria. The best in show and underclassmen winners will be announced at the ceremony.

Awards & Accolades 

• Teacher of the Year and Ed. Service Provider of the Year: Congratulations to Mr. Bewalder for winning Teacher of the Year and Mrs. Kenny for winning Ed. Service Provider of the Year! Thank you both for your amazing impact on our school community here at Roxbury.

Fundraisers

• Class of 2027 Volleyball Tournament (Wednesday, May 29th): The Class of 2027 is hosting a volleyball tournament at the end of this month! Check out the flyer below for more information.

Girls Lacrosse

• Roxbury vs Pequannock (Friday, 5/10): Roxbury Girls Lacrosse plays Pequannok away at 4PM!

• Roxbury vs Kittitany (Monday, 5/13): Roxbury Girls Lacrosse takes on Kittitany at home on Monday, May 13th at 4PM

• Roxbury vs Vernon (Wednesday, 5/15): Roxbury Girls Lacrosse travels to Vernon to compete at 4PM!

• Roxbury vs Cedar Grove (Friday, 5/17): Roxbury Girls Lacrosse will play in their second final regular season game at Cedar Grove for a 4:30PM start!

• Roxbury vs Morris Hills (Saturday, 5/18): Roxbury Girls Lacrosse will play in their charity game against Morris Hills at home on Saturday, May 18th at 6PM!

Boys Lacrosse

• Roxbury vs Lenape Valley (Saturday, 5/11): Roxbury Boys Lacrosse looks to get another win against Lenape Valley at home for a 10AM start!

• Roxbury vs Hanover Park (Monday, 5/13): Roxbury Boys Lacrosse travels to Hanover Park on Monday, May 13th for a 6PM start

• Roxbury vs Kinnelon (Wednesday, 5/15): Roxbury Boys Lacrosse plays Kinnelon at home at 4PM!

• Roxbury vs Morris Catholic (Saturday, 5/18): Roxbury Boys Lacrosse plays their last regular season home game of the year on Saturday, May 18th at 10AM!

Softball

• Roxbury vs DePaul (Friday, 5/10): Roxbury Softball takes on DePaul home on Friday the 10th at 4:15PM.

• Roxbury vs Immaculata (Saturday, 5/11): Roxbury Softball takes on Immaculata away on Saturday the 11th at 11AM.

• Roxbury vs Randolph (Monday, 5/13): Roxbury Softball takes on Immaculata away on Saturday the 13th at 4PM.

• Roxbury vs Pope John (Tuesday, 5/14): Roxbury Softball takes on Pope John away on Tuesday the 14th at 4PM.

• Roxbury vs Montville (Wednesday, 5/15): Roxbury Softball takes on Montville home on Wednesday the 15th at 4PM.

Baseball 

• Roxbury vs Morristown (Saturday, 5/11): Roxbury Baseball takes on Morristown away on Saturday the 11th at 11AM.

• Roxbury vs Randolph (Tuesday, 5/14): Roxbury Baseball takes on Randolph away on Tuesday the 14th at 4PM.

• Roxbury vs Hanover Park (Monday, 5/13): Roxbury Golf takes on Hanover Park away on Monday the 13th at 3:30PM. 

• Roxbury vs Randolph (Tuesday, 5/14): Roxbury Golf takes on Randolph away on Monday the 14th with a time TBA. 

• Roxbury vs Hackettstown (Thursday, 5/16): Roxbury Golf takes on Hackettstown away on Thursday the 16th at 3:30PM. 

Tennis

• Roxbury vs High Point (Monday, 5/13): Roxbury Tennis looks to earn a win at home against High point at 4PM!

• Roxbury vs Wallkill Valley (Wednesday, 5/15): Roxbury Tennis plays Wallkill Valley at home for their second regular season home game of the year!

MUSIC & THEATER 

• Marching Band Registration: The Marching Gaels 2024 season registration is now open! Go to the Marching Gaels classroom to register. Check out the Marching Gaels Instagram for this season’s trailer for their show “Rearrange!” 

CLUBS & FIELD TRIPS 

Clubs

• Roxbury Unified Flag Football (Wednesday, 5/8): Roxbury Unified Flag Football played hard this last Wednesday, ending the game with a score of 7-13.

• Rox-Buddies (Wednesday, 5/8): Rox-Buddies went to Nixon Elementary School from 3:30-4:30 PM to spend time with their Nixon Buddies!

Field Trips

• Criminology and Forensics Field Trip (Wednesday, 5/8) Criminology and Forensics classes took a fun field trip to CCM this past Wednesday! They had so much fun!

• Media Conference (Friday, 5/17): The Roxbury Media Conference will be held at RHS throughout the day on Friday, May 17th. This Conference includes various guest speakers educating students on their experiences in their workplace and the media. 

THE ROXBURY RECAP’S TEACHER/STUDENT(S) OF THE WEEK

Our 5/6 teacher of the week is Spanish Teacher Mr. Cantwell! 

Mr. Cantell has been teaching at Roxbury High School for 21 years. He graduated from SUNY Albany with a Bachelor’s in Spanish, he then went on to get his Master’s degree in Spanish Literature from NYU. His favorite part about his job is “just interacting with my students and colleagues on a daily basis.  The strength of Roxbury really is the community.  We have some of the best teachers I have come across in my career and the students are top-notch. Our administrators are extremely supportive as well.  Plus, now that I am coaching Bowling, Roxbury is the perfect place for me!” Mr. Cantwell is appreciated by students which is evidenced by the following quote: 

“Mr. Cantwell is an amazing coach and I love the energy he always brings to the team! I’m so excited that he has been nominated for teacher of the week because he definitely deserves it! From taking the bowling team to the county championships, coaching the Unified Flag Football team, and teaching Spanish, Mr. Cantwell does it all! Congrats Mr. Cantwell!
