Katie Caron is an incredibly active student at Roxbury High School. She’s a member of numerous clubs and takes on multiple leadership roles. Caron is a proud National Honor Society member as well as an Equal Rights Advocacy (ERA) – Public Relations Officer, Rox-THON-Morale Director, Yearbook-Social Media Manager, Roxbury Review-Editor-In-Chief, and Peer Leader.
When speaking with Caron, she gave me an insight into her leadership roles in several clubs. As a Rox-THON-Morale Director, Caron is in charge of making committee plans, plans for captain’s meetings, getting led screen hire and decorations for the actual event in March. Caron has been a member of ERA since her freshman year and since then, has brought a lot to the table. Being the social media manager, bringing awareness, advocating, making slideshows for meetings, and educating members are just a few of Caron’s roles as a Public Relations Officer.
Caron is an activist for many important causes. She enjoys expressing her opinions on topics she’s passionate about such as the LGBTQ+ community, political issues, and many more. “Katie is an excellent example of a passionate individual who leads by example.” Ms. Christiansen, ERA Advisor, elaborates on Caron’s contribution to the club, “She has attended board meetings to fight for her right to read without censorship. She has helped boost the first Roxbury Pride celebration in her community. She is an activist, and she has led many club members to be as enthusiastic as her in promoting and advocating for equal rights.” Ms. Christiansen believes it’s essential to be an active student, and Caron is the perfect example.
Empathetic, genuine, and determined are three words that Abigail Entel, a close friend of Caron, used to describe her. Entel has known Caron for about a year and a half, but in that amount of time, Caron has made a significant impact on her as a student. Entel shared that Caron inspired her to join school clubs such as Rox-THON and Equal Rights Advocacy. Caron encourages students at Roxbury High School to get involved in as many clubs/activities as possible. Being kind, smiling at others in the hallways, and reminding students to attend club meetings are just some of the ways she does that.
“I think it’s important to be an active student because you get to make friends and help others and feel good about it.” Caron enjoys being involved and wants others to feel that way as well. In addition to making new friends, she’s made strong connections with teachers and people outside of the school district. As she is focusing on political issues as a high school student, she’s contemplating making it her future and becoming a political journalist. When asked where she sees herself in 10 years, she says, “Hopefully, the host of the Daily Show.”
Katie Caron is doing remarkable things for Roxbury High School, the community, and the world! Caron can guide you in the right direction, and above all, is a great friend! It’s so important to be an active student. Our world is only as good as the people in it.

Katie is one of the most caring and compassionate students at RHS. In fact, she’s one of the most empathetic and hard-working human beings I’ve met. I’m so happy to see Katie get some due recognition. I know we’ll be seeing many more accolades in her future – I won’t be surprised if it’s the PULITZER.

Katie is truly a wonderful girl and can do anything she sets her mind to. She genuinely cares about everyone. I am so proud of her because I witness, every day, how hard she works. Just a special person
