Remembering Travis:
Even though Travis is not here today, his legacy still lives on in many people and ways. His saying, “If not me, then who?” has left a huge impact on society. His family members started the Travis Manion Foundation also known as TMF. This organization is established to support veterans and families of the fallen. They have many fundraisers and events to honor those who did not make it home. Along with the TMF foundation, there is also a United States Naval Sea Cadet unit named after the first Lt.
The Travis Manion Battalion:
The Sea Cadets is a youth leadership program that the US Navy and Coast Guard sponsors. Though it starts at age 10, you may remain in the program until you are 18. While in the program you get exposed to many aspects of the military. You learn your military bearing, how to address charge officers and much general knowledge. This Batallion focuses on leadership, character development, and community service among its members. It encourages young individuals to embody the values of Travis Manion and what the meaning of being named after means. Though the program may seem rigorous at times the Travis Manion Batallion aims to provide young individuals with a sense of pride and leadership that will one day leave an impact on the world like Travis did.
