The 2024-2025 season for the seniors athletic season is coming to an end. These amazing and talented students have such overall potential for their sport. They all had such amazing traits, whether that be sportsmanship, building bonds, teamwork, and overall athleticism. Class of 2025 athletes will leave a positive mark for Roxbury High School and our community will continue to be proud of their achievements throughout the 4 years. Some of the seniors were able enough to share the highlights of their seasons from past and soon previous years.
Our first senior is Fabio Marcano. He plays varsity baseball. He’s been playing since sophomore year here at Roxbury. Marcano has such amazing talent and passion for his sport. He always strives to become the best and make it big for his team. His position is catcher. “Last year we beat the number one team in the state and it was Morris Knolls. We also beat Randolph twice and they were a higher rank than us, it was a pretty nice victory for everyone, especially me. I’ve been on varsity for 3 years. The team has a good bond together and I can’t wait to see how this year goes. I had a home run last year and it felt pretty good to me. My adrenaline was just rushing through when it happened. This year and for my last season playing for Roxbury High School, I just want to win the championship and overall break a couple of records and it’d be pretty nice if I got captain for the varsity baseball team.” – Fabio Marcano, Grade 12
Makayla Lewis started cheerleading her junior year. Ever since, she has created many bonds with the girls and coaches. Lewis pushes every day to be the better version of herself. She enjoys cheering and waving her pom-poms at the FNL nights into the crowded stands. Makayla also does competitive cheer, and she enjoys it so much. The traveling, the memories to cherish for a lifetime, and overall getting to feel the experience, the excitement of joy. “Fall cheer was nice this season. It was my first year on varsity and it was sort of a shift change in my life. I love my team with everything, the people I have met, coaches, and overall my friend Lauren Hooker. Joining cheer has brought me so many friendships and I’m so thankful and fulfilled for that. It was all bittersweet. I cried so much on my senior night because I was realizing it’s my last year cheering for Roxbury and it all just came so quick. I would say I didn’t take anything for granted this year. But, I am doing comp cheer this year. Overall, competition cheer makes me feel great and I’m excited to put it all on the map and just smile brightly at everyone.” – Makayla Lewis, Grade 12
Alexis Oliveira. She is one of the toughest, kindest, and sweetest people ever. She plays ice hockey for Roxbury High School and is on a traveling team. She plays forward. Oliveira brings a positive impact to her team. She always has a bright attitude and takes it to the rink. “My overall season last year as a junior… was pretty strong. We fought to achieve what we all wanted and put effort into it. We worked to get better every single day and it improved to set us up for success this year. But, I want my senior year to be the best year out of all four and to enjoy all my time with the guys since it’s my last year playing high school ice hockey. I want to showcase everything we worked on in practice and take it to the rink. I truly believe this season will be a great one and I can’t wait.” – Alexis Oliveira, Grade 12
Last, Jaylen Eatman. He’s played for the Roxbury Football team since freshman year. He has the potential and love for his sports. Although he played boys basketball and baseball. His overall favorite was football. Even though he was injured for his senior year that didn’t stop him from having a good bond with his teammates. “Getting injured for my last year sucked, but I still would support my teammates on the sideline. My injury didn’t take a toll on me for not being able to play because it still felt like I was a part of the team. Always making me feel included and never excluded [from] anything. I would say the past years the football team gave me a family and memories to cherish throughout. I would forever be thankful for that and for my friends.” – Jaylen Eatman, Grade 12
