As the 2024-2025 school year began, many new staff members started their first year at Roxbury High School. This includes our new assistant principal, Ms. Posbergh! We asked her about who she is, what her past looks like, and what her plans are for Roxbury High School. Although some students may just see Ms. Posbergh as an assistant principal, I took the time to get to know her on a more personal level.
As a child, Ms. Posbergh grew up on a farm and went to Somerville High School in Somerville, NJ, where she ran cross country. Ms. Posbergh revealed that her coach said she couldn’t pass physics even if she had tried. The following year she took physics, and it became her favorite subject that she passed. She took this motivation with her to Rowan and Seton Hall to get her masters in physics. She continued this to become a physics teacher. Ms. Posbergh reveals she worked “everywhere,” including San Jose California, Oakland California, Manhattan, Bronx, and “all over New Jersey.”
One thing on Ms. Posbergh’s bucket list is a polar plunge, this is a fundraiser when people dive into the freezing ocean during the winter. Ms. Posbergh tells us that if she were to participate in this, she would do it to raise money for the dog shelters. , Ms. Posbergh also states that she has a pet dog, which is a 4-year-old yellow lab named Cora.
Ms. Posbergh reveals that if she could meet any celebrity dead or alive it would be Ryan Gosling. She says, “The Notebook was pivotal.” Ms. Posbergh adds, “Or Michael Jordan because the Chicago Bulls were the best team of all time.”
When it comes to Ms. Posbergh’s favorites, she tells us that her favorite food is a trifecta of burgers, pizza, and tacos. When it comes to having a day off, you may find her on a trail in the mountains or near the rivers, as her favorite hobby is hiking. However, you would not find her hiking at night because she is afraid of the dark! Along with this, she is afraid of butterflies, with and without wings.
For the future of Roxbury High School, her goal is to get a better homecoming dance, as she was disappointed with many factors, including the fact there was no photo booth. Another goal that Ms. Posbergh has is more school spirit!
As new staff members come to join us at Roxbury High School, remember that they are people too. Staff members at our school have thoughts and feelings, fears, hobbies, goals, friends, and family, just like you! With the new staff members of the 2024-25 school year, Roxbury High School looks like it has a bright future ahead!
