Timothée Chalamet stars as Bob Dylan in new biopic A Complete Unknown. On Tuesday, Oct. 8, Searchlight Pictures released the first full trailer of the new film, set to release into theaters later this year.
Dylan is a well-known American singer-songwriter. He has become a well-known pop culture figure
over his career which has spanned for more than 60 years. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2016. He is currently 83 years old.
Earlier this year, around March, Chalamet was seen filming the movie in New York City, where Dylan rose to fame. Fans all around the world are excited for the film’s release, which depicts Dylan’s life from when he left Minnesota at just 19 years old to his transition from folk music to using an electric guitar.
Dylan’s iconic switch to electric guitar in 1965 at the Newport Folk Festival was one of the most controversial moments in his career.
In the trailer, we get a glimpse of Chalamet’s performance skills. In the trailer we see him sing Dylan’s legendary song “Like A Rolling Stone.” Chalamet was seen filming some of his performances at Echo Lake Park in New Jersey earlier this year in April. So far, critics have raved about Chalamet’s impression of the singer, some saying it’s the most accurate impression they have heard.
It seems Chalamets visits to Dylan’s hometown and time spent at Dylan’s high school seem to have paid off. Before seen filming, in January, Chalamet spent time with drama students from Dylan’s in Hibbing, Minnesota.
The synopsis of the movie that was released states: “New York, early 1960s. Against the backdrop of a vibrant music scene and tumultuous cultural upheaval, an enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota arrives in the West Village with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music. As he forms his most intimate relationships during his rise to fame, he grows restless with the folk movement and, refusing to be defined, makes a controversial choice that culturally reverberates worldwide.
