As the fall approaches and the weather gets cooler, you may find it difficult when looking for activities. Tradition may be the best option when the leaves change colors and the world turns dark when autumn becomes apparent. But what can we do as individuals to get more into the spirit?
Outdoor Activities
If the outdoors, beautiful scenery, and cooler air are for you, you may enjoy camping. If the camping experience is not your perferability, go for a hike. Hiking will show all the beautiful scenery and the experience will be similar. Choosing to go and see a waterfall, river, leaves changing colors, views, etc. can all be undervalued once seen in person. However, if going into the woods and camping or hiking is too much, just have a backyard campfire – make some s’mores with the people around you!
A daytime trip to 6 Flags to experience Frightfest and get that adrenaline pumping sounds like a blast; going on rides, playing games, and having that scare. Although this option is on the pricer side, you choose the fun. These memories will last a lifetime!
At Home Activities
When you don’t want to leave your comfortable home, but you aren’t getting that fall feeling, you can try to do things to get yourself in the spirit. Decorating your house with fall decorations will not only keep you in the spirit for the moment, but for the rest of the season. Although decorations may get expensive, that is not an issue! DIY your decorations, you can try to make a scarecrow, wreath, or a centerpiece! Trying to feel the Halloween spirit might be difficult as the date approaches, but one great way is to make a costume. DIY your costume is perfect because it will turn out exactly how YOU want it to!
Those rest days however are a necessity, so if you need a lazy day, bundle up in a blanket and binge-watch classic horror movies! Horror movies are a great way to feel the spirit without needing to do very much. If watching too many horror movies gets repetitive, watch a football game – this can be in-person or on television depending on how you feel.
Farmer Market
A daytime trip to the farmer’s market may do the job. If you’re a fan of fresh fruits, try apple picking! Oftentimes, you’re allowed to eat the apples straight off the tree. Another good option is pumpkin picking, choose the biggest pumpkin you can find, take it home and carve it! Pumpkin picking is a great activity for creative people! After getting these fresh fruits, you may want to add them to muffins, pies, cookies, and more!
Wanting that spooky feeling can be difficult to find; however, you will be sure to find it at a haunted house, haunted hayride, or haunted corn maze! However, if you don’t want the scare, go on a normal hayride and corn maze. It is a very fun experience, and be sure to take pictures/videos of this memory!
Conclusion
When the air gets crisper and the leaves turn colors, it becomes apparent that autumn has arrived. As the natural changes appear, so will the mental. To get into the autumn feeling, you may need to take some things into your own hands. Whether it’s DIY a costume/decoration or watching a horror movie, there are many things you can do to enjoy the fall and to create memories.
