Underdogs came up big in Week 2, but it’s still too early to start blowing things into proportion. Week 3 brought the energy, especially for the Eagles, Jets, Vikings, and Rams.
Before you consider writing off a team that started the season 0-2, it’s important to think that historically these teams tend to perform better in Week 3. According to Network’s BetLabs database, since 2010, 0-2 teams are 53-32-2 (62.4%) against the Week 3 spread when facing a team that has already won a game.
Week 3 began with an AFC East divisional matchup between the Jets and the Patriots on TNF (Thursday Night Football). The Jets started Week 3 with a win at home, and for the Patriots they fly back to New England hoping for a different outcome in Week 4 against the 49ers. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers showed Jets fans what they have been waiting to see for a while, by throwing for 281 yards, and two touchdowns. The Jets now improve to 2-1 as they get set to play Denver on Sunday at home. As for the Patriots, they move to 1-2 on the season and last in the AFC East.
Rolling into the Sunday window, the Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, Baltimore Ravens, and Los Angeles Rams pulled off big-time wins. At the same time, the Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, and the New York Giants join the Week 3-win column as well.
The Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers are searching for answers in their 1-2 starts, just like the Las Vegas Raiders who lost to the Panthers 36-22 last week.
Things could be worse, but not as bad for Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. As well as for Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars and Will Levis of the Tennessee Titans marking down as the only 0-3 teams in the league, winless.
Though not all of Week 3 was bad, the Los Angeles Rams made an impressive comeback to beat the San Francisco 49ers who have only won a game thus far. The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Los Angeles Chargers 20-10, the Philadelphia Eagles held off the high-power offense in New Orleans Saints, and the rookie QB in Denver handed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers their first loss.
Week 4 starts with another divisional matchup on TNF (Thursday Night Football), and this one in the NFC East. The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants are competing in New York for a win under the lights.
