Pop superstar Adele has recently announced that she will be rescheduling ten March shows for her Las Vegas residency “Weekends with Adele,” which is hosted at The Colosseum Theater at Caesars Palace.
On Tuesday, she took to her Instagram, posting a statement, “Sadly, I have to take a beat and pause my Vegas residency. I was sick at the end of the last leg and through my break. I hadn’t quite gotten the chance to get back to full health before shows resumed and now I’m sick again, and unfortunately, it’s all taken a toll on my voice. And so on Doctor’s orders, I have no choice but to rest thoroughly. The remaining 5 weekends of this leg are being postponed to a later date. We are already working out the details and you will be sent the information ASAP.” She then went on to list the specific show dates that have been postponed.
This isn’t the first time that she has had to postpone or cancel shows due to vocal damages, as towards the end of her 2016 tour “Adele Live 2016” when she had teased her retirement from touring altogether, passing a handwritten note to attendees stating that she may never tour again. She then went on to cancel the last two shows of her 2016 tour, followed by a long hiatus which eventually led us to her latest album “30,” which we got in 2021. Not long after the release of “30,” Adele announced that she would be doing a residency in Las Vegas, which is the same one she has now postponed the dates for.
However, this isn’t even the first time that Adele has had to postpone shows for this residency, as the day before the residency was meant to begin in January 2022 she posted a video to her Instagram, stating that her show “wasn’t ready” citing the massive amounts of production crew testing positive for COVID-19. In the video, Adele was visibly upset, even crying in some of it. She would also FaceTime fans who were impacted by the sudden postponement of the shows, apologizing for the inconvenience it caused many people. Eventually, the new dates were revealed and the residency kicked off in November of the same year.
The reactions of people online have been mixed so far, with some fans supporting Adele and wishing her good health and a quick recovery. In contrast, others have been a bit more critical of her – even comparing this instance to what happened with the residency in January 2022. And even though the Vegas shows have been postponed, fans planning to attend her upcoming performances in Munich, Germany dubbed “Adele In Munich” seem to be in the clear, as those dates have not been officially postponed and the shows are set to still happen this August.
