Our teacher of the week is Mr. James Connolly! Mr. Connolly has been teaching at Roxbury High School for ten years. He graduated from The University of Vermont, where he studied History and English, and he has his Master’s from The College of New Jersey. His favorite thing about his job is, “it’s a deeply rewarding job; it’s important to our society and democracy, giving every kid a great education, being part of that project is what I like most about it.” Mr. Connolly is also the proud advisor for the Debate team and Junior States of America. Students all around appreciate his humor and teaching abilities, which is evidenced by the following quotes:
“Mr. Connolly is my AP Comparative Government teacher and has quickly become one of my favorites. He makes the class so enjoyable with his crazy life stories and random anecdotes. He is a teacher who always shows interest in not only his subject but also his students. He makes every class so enjoyable, and I am so happy to have him as a teacher.” -Abbie Entel
“Mr. Connolly makes history really interesting and always exciting! Every time I walk into his classroom, I am welcomed into a comfortable and fun environment. I get to learn about American history while also having a fun time with my friends! Mr. Connolly always has an interesting and engaging lesson planned by a teacher who is truly passionate about what he teaches. Mr. Connolly is so funny, and I can always count on him if I ever need anything! “Mr. Connolly is an AMAZING teacher! I had him last year for US History II, and I have him this year for AP Comparative Government. He always lightens up the class with his humor and stories. He keeps the class interesting, and I’ve learned a lot from him. He is so passionate about his job, which is what makes his classes so fun! I’m so grateful to have him as a teacher!” -Katie Caron, Junior
“I have known Mr. Connolly since the very beginning of my freshman year. I’ve had such a unique and amazing experience with Mr. Connolly, given that I was a member of the Debate Team and JSA before even having his history class. Mr. Connolly is an astonishingly well-spoken and intelligent person who is so fun to talk to. The amount of times we’ve had intriguing conversations are too many to recall. I had him for US History II and I plan on taking his classes next year. Mr. Connolly is awesome!” – Gavin Gardner, Junior
