Awards & Accolades
- 2024 State School of Character: Roxbury High School was named a 2024 State School of Character! This award recognizes RHS’s efforts towards creating a culture and climate of character in our building.
- Lit Mag Awards: The Nightingale, our school literary magazine, received two awards for their 2022-2023 edition: First Place in the Literary Magazine category from the American Scholastic Press Association and Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines for the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).
Assemblies
- ‘Believe in U’ Assembly (Friday, 2/23): During last Monday’s ‘Day that Rox,’ students watched an inspirational video about motivational speaker Kevin Atlas. Atlas will present “Believe in U” during an assembly on Friday, 2/23 for all students and staff.
- Rox-THON Assembly (Friday, 3/9): Rox-Thon will host an assembly to encourage students to get involved in their overnight event, which will take place on Friday, 3/15.
Fundraisers
- Valentine’s Day Flower Sale: The Class of 2025 is selling flowers in the main office each morning and in the cafeteria during lunch blocks until Wednesday, 2/14. The cost is $2 per stem and 3 stems for $5.
- The ‘Superbowl Caravan’: (Saturday, 2/10): The Interact Club will host a ‘Superbowl Caravan.’ The club will collect canned goods in the RHS parking lot at 10 am. Proceeds benefit the United Methodist Church in Succasunna.
- Rox-THON (Friday, 3/15): Rox-THON Registration is currently open and will remain open until Friday, 2/23. Click here for more information.
Academics & Academic Programs
- Course Selection (Began Monday, 1/29): Course Selection began on Monday, 1/29. This process will begin with juniors, then sophomores, and finally end with freshmen. Course selection will take place over the next few months, so look out for passes from your guidance counselor.
- Air Force Junior ROTC (Wednesday, 1/31): The Air Force Junior ROTC is coming to RHS! This military leadership program provides high school students with real military training. An information session was held at 7 pm on Wednesday, 1/31.
- Vo-Tech Applications (Now Through Monday, 4/1): Morris County Vo-Tech is now accepting applications for their share-time programs. If you are interested in one of the programs, you have until Monday, 4/1 to apply.
Miscellaneous
- Benson Boone Collaborates with the Roxbury Review (Monday, 1/29): Have you seen Benson Boone posters around the halls of RHS and wondered, ‘What’s that about?’ Benson Boone is A MUSIC SENSATION. The Roxbury Review has the honor of collaborating with Moxie, an organization that connects student-journalists with up-and-coming music artists. Our students will have the opportunity to win a variety of prizes, including concert tickets. So, if you’ve seen Benson Boone posters or bookmarks floating around, scan the QR code and check him out… and be on the lookout for our upcoming article on Benson Boone!
Basketball
- Roxbury vs Hopatcong (Tuesday, 1/30): The RHS Girls Basketball Team hosted Hopatcong for their Senior night on Tuesday, 1/30, and ended the night with a 55-25 win!
- Roxbury vs Pequannock (Saturday, 2/3): Come out and support our Boys’ Basketball team as they take on Pequannock at home on Saturday, 2/3 at 12:00 pm.
Bowling
- County Championship Win (Thursday, 1/25): The RHS Bowling Team won the County Championship against Montville 2-0. Congratulations to the team!
Cheerleading
- Roxy Rumble (Saturday, 1/27): Roxbury High School hosted its annual cheerleading competition (The Roxy Rumble) on Saturday, 1/27 from 7:30 am-5:00 pm. We had an excellent turnout for this event, hosting over 80 teams!
Hockey
- Senior Night (Saturday, 1/27): Hockey hosted Senior Night against Old Bridge on 1/27, and the game resulted in a 4-4 tie.
- Roxbury vs Hopewell Valley (Monday, 2/5): Ice hockey plays their final game of the regular season against Hopewell Valley (away) at 4 pm on Monday, 2/5.
Swim
- NJSIAA State Sectional Tournament: The RHS Boys Swim will compete in the NJSIAA State Sectional Tournament on Monday, 2/5 against Wayne Hills.
- New School Records: Relay team Nathan Milun, Mathew Milun, Aidan Saladino, and Aidan Ochoa broke the school record for the Boys 400 Free Relay; Aidan Ochoa broke the school record for the Boys 100 Breast.
Wrestling
- NJSIAA Team Tournament Quarter Finals: Roxbury Wrestling will compete in the NJSIAA Team Tournament Quarter Final at West Essex on Monday, 2/5.
- Roxbury vs Butler & Mendham (Saturday, 2/10): Roxbury Wrestling will have their last match of the year against Butler and Mendham on Saturday, 2/10 at 9 am.
- Roxbury Drama Club Presents Mean Girls: Roxbury’s Drama Club is performing Mean Girls. Four performances will occur; they will perform on March 7 at 7:00 pm, March 8 at 7:00 pm, and March 9 at 2:00 pm & 7:00 pm.
- Roxbury Winter Guard Places 2nd: The Winter Guard placed 2nd in the Scholastic Regional A division against 4 other teams with a score of 63.28 at West Orange on Saturday, 1/27.
- Stephen Padilla Named Student of the Month by the MPAC: Senior Stephen Padilla was nominated for Student of the Month-Percussion by the Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) in Morristown, NJ. Congratulations to Stephen!
Clubs
- Yearbook Club (Tuesday, 1/23): The Yearbook Club met after school on Tuesday, 1/23. The club focused on creating the divider pages in E-Design for their February deadline.
- 8th Grade Parent Night (Wednesday, 1/24): The parents of incoming freshmen met at RHS to take a tour around RHS, meet teachers, and learn about all that we have to offer!
- Rox-THON (Thursday, 1/25): Rox-THON met after school on Thursday, 1/25. The club continued to work towards preparation for their event, which will occur on Friday, 3/15.
- Equal Rights Advocacy (Tuesday, 1/30): ERA met after school on Tuesday, 1/30. The club discussed the Pink Tax and the stigma around menstruation, as well as preparing for their first fundraiser of the year (Project Self-Sufficiency).
- Interact Club (Wednesday, 1/31): The Interact Club held a meeting after school in the cafeteria at 2:30 am. They announced their Color Run, discussed the “Superbowl Caravan,” and other upcoming events.
- Rox-Buddies (Wednesday, 1/31): Rox-Buddies went to Nixon Elementary School from 3:30-4:30 pm to spend time with their Nixon Buddies!
- Debate League (Friday, 2/2): The Debate League will participate in the Finals Tournament @ High Point High School.
- EMS Club Fair (Friday, 2/2): The EMS Club fair will take place on Friday, 2/2 at Eisenhower Middle School from 10:41-11:14 am. Come and help advertise any club you’re part of!
- Science League (Thursday, 2/8): The 2nd Science League test will take place on Thursday, 2/8 in L204.
- Varsity R Food Drive (Saturday, 2/10): The Varsity R Club will host a ‘Souperbowl of Caring’ from 8:30-11:30 am on Saturday, 2/10. Proceeds will benefit the First Presbyterian Church. Please consider donating to give back to our community!
Club Reminders
- Global Hi-5 Multicultural Expo (Tuesday, 2/15): Roxbury’s Global Hi-5 Multicultural Expo will be held on Tuesday, 2/15 in the Roxbury High School Cafeteria from 6- 9:00 pm. The suggested donation is $3.00.
- Peer Leaders Applications (Open Until Friday, 2/9): The Peer Leaders program is currently accepting applications from rising juniors and seniors. If you are interested in submitting an application, check your email and class Google Classroom page. Submissions are open until Friday, 2/9.
- NEW! The E-Sports Team: The RHS E-Sports Team is still looking for gamers to join their new club! Take a look at the brand new gaming room downstairs in A104 and email [email protected] for more information.
- Aviation Club Apparel: The RHS Aviation apparel store is open until Friday, February 9th. Make sure to purchase your merchandise with this link.

Our teacher of the week is Mrs. Megan Santoro! Mrs. Santoro has been teaching English and Journalism at Roxbury High School since 2017. She graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Master’s Degree in English Education with an endorsement as a teacher of Students with Disabilities. Her favorite thing about her job is “building connections with students, especially when [she] has the opportunity to teach them for several years. They have a profound impact on [her] both professionally and personally.” She is the proud advisor for the Roxbury Review. Students all around adore her, which is evidenced by the following quotes:
