Ava Dipasquale: a dedicated, involved, and appreciated senior. Her participation in sports, and clubs, along with her academic success, are traits many students can learn from and apply during their time as a student. When searching for a student to spotlight the motive is to find someone constantly setting the bar of what it is like to be a Roxbury Gael.

High school is a time when many students find themselves and grow as individuals. Ava stated that she has “grown a lot” from her freshman to her senior year, Both in age and in maturity. She believes she has grown “in terms of understanding how to handle all that comes at me and how to be successful.” to have a favorable outcome. The school system at Roxbury tries to build all students into successful individuals, and Ava is extremely grateful for the opportunities available at Roxbury High School. 

Furthermore, Ava is involved in Roxbury High School girls’ varsity soccer program, and as a senior, her last season is generating major success. Their record consists of ten wins, three losses, and two ties according to nj.com. Compared to previous seasons, this is a major accomplishment. She explained how this is a “dream come true” and added on how her “role on the team, being such a dynamic playmaker and contributor” plays a crucial part in this dream.

Getting involved in clubs increases positive traits and good habits such as “leadership, teamwork, time management, problem-solving, and resilience.” as stated by an article by the Honor Society. Ava is currently involved in six clubs and plays important roles in most of them. She is the Director of Entertainment for Rox-Thon and the Social Media Coordinator Officer for the National Honor Society (NHS). Additionally, she is a member of Interact Club, Spanish Honor Society, Varsity R (Roxbury), and Peer Leaders. This demonstrates just how involved Dispasqcuale is here at Roxbury.

Balancing her personal life and student life is something Ava believes is critical to having the best of her high school experience. As previously stated, Ava is in multiple clubs, and sports, all while simultaneously maintaining good grades. Her way of handling a variety of activities is to use her time accordingly, due to how busy her days may get. She is immensely proud of this, as she mentioned this being her biggest accomplishment. 

As a freshman entering high school, it may be difficult, but you can make the best memories of your life. For the class of 2027, her key advice is to “involve yourself with as many activities as you can”. From experience, she knows how much change occurs throughout high school, and getting involved not only helps you be well-rounded but also creates life-long friends and memories. 

At the end of the day, Ava Dipasquale is a student whom many can look up to, and she deserves an honorable mention. During her time at Roxbury High School, she has done so much from soccer, leading and contributing to clubs, and maintaining her academics.
