Have you ever wondered how to make the perfect taco? Roxbury’s very own Nick Tomaselli and Aralynne Allen have the answer!

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4lb of Ground Beef
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 Bag of Shredded Lettuce (Buy at any supermarket)
  • 1 Bag of Mexican Blend Shredded Cheese (Large bag)
  • Ortega Grande soft and hard shell taco kit (comes with sauce and seasoning)
  • 1 Daisy’s Squeeze Pouch Sour Cream

Instructions

  1. In the morning, take ground beef our of the freezer and leave to defrost until about 5 p.m.
  2. At 5 p.m. take a large cooking pan and place it on your stove. The stove should be heated at medium heat.
  3. When the pan warms up, put defrosted ground beef in the pan. Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  4. After letting ground beef sit for 30 seconds, start mashing it up (to mash the meat is when you are cutting the meat in the pan and flipping it repeatably.
  5. At this time put the taco shells in the oven for about 5 minutes.
  6. When meat turns brown, take the cooked meat and put it in the strainer to remove all of the grease from the meat.
  7. When done straining put the meat back into the pan and put the heat on low.
  8. Take the taco seasoning back from the dinner kit and pour it into the meat.
  9. Take the taco seasoning pack from the dinner kit and one cup of water and then mix both into the meat. The ground beef will absorb the water, seasoning, and adding flavor to the meat. Stir on and off for three minutes.
  10. While stirring on and off, put two of the soft shells at a time into the microwave for 15 seconds. Continue doing that until all soft shells are warmed up.
  11. Then turn off the burner with the meat in it.
  12. Put three cups of shredded Mexican Blend Cheese in a bowl. Also put the taco sauce provided in the dinner kit, in a bowl with a spoon.
  13. Then chop up the tomato and put three handfuls of shredded lettuce in a bowl.
  14. Open the sour cream and place a spoon in it.
  15. Then prepare your taco: sour cream, meat, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, Mexican Blend Shredded Cheese, and lastly taco sauce.
  16. Lastly, enjoy your taco and go back for seconds!
